And We're Off…

Welcome to my new blog, detailing the production of “Emptiness,” a new animated Web series I’m working on and hope to release in early 2011.

I tend to work in a different order than most people. The first thing I did for the new series (after coming up with a very, very vague idea for the plot) was to create the teaser trailer here:

(Special thanks to Kevin MacLeod for making such great music freely available.)

Then, I started finalizing the basic plot and started writing the scripts. I have first drafts of the first two 5-minute episodes done, and I’m working on the third. I’m a bit stuck right now, but that’s OK. I’ve found I tend to get on a roll in the evenings.

Of course, you might be wondering what the series will be about. Without giving away too much, I can say it’s about a man discovering things he didn’t know about himself in an effort to solve the bigger mystery of why all of the other residents of his home city have suddenly gone missing.

There’s definitely some challenges ahead. While I’m not great in Poser, I’m learning quite a bit as I go.

I’m also trying to figure out voice casting. I can probably do some of the voices myself, but I’m not exactly an experienced voice actor and certainly can’t do women’s voices. I know there are voiceover artists out there who can do voices like this, but I need to finish the scripts first. (I’d hate to hire an actor for a character that I cut out before release.)

I’ll keep you updated on my progress.
