The Shirt Has Arrived

I just received the first “Emptiness” T-shirt to be printed:

Overall, I’m pretty happy, although being the nervous Nellie I am, I’m considering re-uploading the image with black behind the color so you don’t get the white fringe on the inside. (The white lines on the outside are intentional.)

It’s still for sale at Zazzle. Read More

One Fewer Episode, One More Episode

Posted on September 15th, 2009 by Talon

Originally, my plan for this series was to have five episodes: each roughly 10 minutes, forming a miniseries of short episodes. But as I came to write Episode Five, I came up with a plot I figured would be great, but would mean a sixth episode. (The benefit of self-producing: I can change the order at will.)

I had been writing the whole thing in sequence, so I already had the first drafts of the first four episodes written. But I realized something today: the goal for the characters in the first two episodes didn’t really make sense, and certainly seemed so trivial that I couldn’t get too many people to stay with it until the bigger plot begins in Episode Three. Plus, there were plenty of scenes in there that I felt revealed a little too much. Time for a rewrite, I thought.

Problem Solved – I Hope

Posted on September 9th, 2009 by Talon

Good thing I’m having trouble sleeping and took a shower tonight (instead of in the morning). I think I just worked out the hole in the new story I’ve been figuring out, and it’s pretty elegant. There are probably still some smaller holes to patch up, but those should be far easier.

Writer's Block

Posted on September 8th, 2009 by Talon

As often happens in the process of writing, I’m stuck. Bigtime. So I’m hoping a bit of blogging might clear up the pipes.

So far, I have first drafts completed of three episodes, and so far, I’m pretty happy with them. The challenge I’m facing with Episode 4, when I’m planning to really get down into the overall story: I generally hate the overall story.

After a little research, I’ve come up with a plausible alternate story that, fortunately, will only mean minor rewrites to the earlier episodes. I’m just stuck on a fairly major point to the new story: how the protagonist fits in.

Okay, it’s not quite that serious. I have an idea about what he’ll do from here, but I just need to figure out why something (let’s call it X) hasn’t happened to him. If X happened, I think the whole story would be a lot less interesting. Plus, I’d pretty much have to ditch Episode 3, which is so far my favorite.

I know I’m being irritatingly mysterious about this whole process, but since I’m still writing the scripts, I don’t want to blog myself into a corner.

More to come.

Main Character's Shirt

Posted on September 7th, 2009 by Talon

Writer’s block is still hounding me, so I figured I’d turn to graphic design and finish the main character’s T-shirt. It’ll look mostly like this shirt, which I’m selling on Zazzle:
